I'm calling this a rain break

The rain was absolutely torrential, pouring, when I walked over to the courthouse this afternoon. I actually broke my usual rule and used an umbrella - it was THAT rainy.

I ended up with an hour break between cases, but since the car is in the shop having the brakes checked and I'm on foot, I decided that walking back and forth in the rain one more time didn't make sense. Without a car I can't accomplish most of the errands that I would have liked to do anyway. I could do the dishes during this break, I suppose, but somehow the idea of walking home in the rain so that I can wash the dishes and then walking back to the courthouse again doesn't appeal to me, so I'll take the break where I can find it and just rest while I wait.

Logan's back (or something else, but I think it's most likely the dachshund back) is bothering him again, so I'm probably going to have to keep him crated again for awhile, and put up with the whining. Since listening to the pitiful whine doesn't accomplish anything and only tempts me to let him out sooner than I should, I guess I'll be listening to a lot of music in the near future.

You just have to remember that giving in to Logan is a detriment to his health.

I suspect he's going to be on crate rest for some time, and he isn't going to like it. Neither will I. But I'll have to learn to ignore him crying to be let out.

I think he will adjust as long as you are consistent in leaving him in there.

Rain and whining dachsunds....doesn't sound pleasant. :(

I think the thing that I heard that just tore my heart was the peeping of a baby bird recently. It sounded like it had fallen from the nest, and it sounded desperate...but it was in someone else's yard. What can one do?

So I walked away, listening to that peeping, and prayed it would be ok. :(
