fireworks
Wishing a happy U.S. Independence Day if you celebrate it (and just a fun Saturday if you don't). I'm hoping to go to Saratoga Springs with [info]phoenix_raging this afternoon and evening to catch some of the Fourth of July festivities. In the meantime, I'm going to try installing the release candidate of Windows 7 on a computer that is no longer in active use, so that I can experiment with it this morning.

Have you tried Google Chrome? By far superior to windows.

And happy holiday to you :)

Google Chrome is a browser (I have tried it and I do like it, although I'm not using it right now), while Windows 7 is an operating system, the successor to Vista. The final version isn't out yet, it's just a "release candidate" which is close to final but still a beta version. I'm going to follow the warnings and NOT put it on my primary machine.

Edited to add: I hope you have a good weekend!

I'm just looking for Windows 7 drivers for the sound on my system, and thought of you and your silent computer. Did you ever get around to trying an external sound card?

I don't know what an external sound card ids or how to install it. Weird thing is the internal sound card works, so the problem is what?

I know that was a rhetorical question, but I wish I could answer it. Can't do it from here, though. If your sound card works, and the driver is installed and functioning correctly, and your speakers also work and they are plugged in correctly, and the sound volume is not muted, I have no clue why you are not getting sound.

Lynn has tried to walk me through it, friends of techie backgrounds and I remain mute. I'm sure if you brought it to you could fix it.

Ha, you were just ahead of your time, that's all! Google is developing an operating system under the Chrome label.

Did you have inside information? :-)

Yeah, it was a divine intervention! Seriously, I got sick and tired of IE and timing out looking for new search engines and operating systems. Think I should sue google for stealing my ideas, or is an idea really an idea if it's not on paper? (I have never used IE, or Opera since finding Google Chrome:)

Maybe you did a little bit of accidental time-traveling? :-)

I'd probably be born in 1912. Working on the auto industry line. Did you het the picture of those two trolls I sent you yesterday?

I saw it, but I got rid of it - I don't want such ugly pictures on my LJ! Thanks anyway, though. :-)

I don't blame you for getting rid of it. Seeing the picture of the two "sock puppets" and the cruelty the one real guy on LJ did. I was just surprised to find them I guess.

Happy Independence Day! Hope it was a fun one!!! Oh, and one person on the f-list beta'ed Windows 7 and liked it lots, so eager to hear what results you have with it.

It looks pretty, but so did Vista. I have installed it on a system with touchscreen capabilities (my Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile) but I haven't been able to get that feature working yet. Then again, I didn't have much time to work on it yesterday.

I did have fun going to Saratoga Springs with Jess for the fireworks.
